Loved this collection! I am so glad I picked up some more Emily Dickinson because other than a few poems here and there, I hadn’t read much of her work. Poetry always really inspires and calms me— always keeps me in a good perspective— and gets my creativity flowing for my own writing. This collection got me in that creative state. I was inspired to write some poems in Dickinson’s style which was very fun, and it allowed me to experiment and broaden myself which I deeply enjoyed.

There were definitely a good few gems in this collection which I will list specifically below for future reference. But before I do that, I just need to bring up Dickinson’s obsession with bees. There was a Bee Movie quantity of bees in her work, and while I didn’t mind and thought it was beneficial in setting the atmosphere for many poems, I did find the sheer volume of mentionings of the little creatures to be funny, and eventually, I may or may not have started drawing little bees in the margins every time bees came up. Suffice it to say, I now have a swarm of bees within my copy’s pages.
