I don't know what to say about this book as I really wanted to like it and I do think it's good that as a young adult book it explores the important topics of sexuality and mental health especially the horrific psychological abuse Carys and Alan were subjected to by their mother. Who may be the worst fictional character as who kills their childhood dog. I liked how both Aled and Frances had their escape through the Universe City blog which was so creative and unique. I also liked Raine and how much of a good friend she was and even Daniel too who went out of his way to help his friend. However, I just really couldn't vibe with Frances and her character as I don't know if she came across immature or just overly keen to make friends with Aled. It's interesting that most of her life she was obsessed with getting the grades and getting into the uni, like so many of us have been to realise that wasn't her true dream at all. I think this book is powerful and is a coming of age story for all of them and goes against the norms It just didn't blow me away.
