How To Make A Wish
by Ashley Herring Blake
I'm absolutely in love with this beautiful book. It has so many important topics that need to continue to be discussed, especially with teens and young adults in this generation. How to Make a Wish has everything you could think of for a fluffy, summer contemporary but it's loaded with deep and relatable topics. Blake discusses sexuality, alcoholism, friendship, love and grief. The characters were incredibly relatable: flawed, yes, but you can't help but love them. Blake's writing is so fluid and gripping. I couldn't put this novel down. It was incredibly heartbreaking but so rewarding and beautiful. I was able to relate to Grace on a couple of issues and her strength helped me cope with what I was dealing with on a daily basis. I didn't feel alone anymore.
I couldn't recommend this book enough. It will tear you apart, but you'll slowly be put back together again.
