The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead

5.0

Seeing as it's been a while since I've read [b:Bloodlines|8709527|Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)|Richelle Mead|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1297199431s/8709527.jpg|13582374], I had forgotten what it's like to be inside Sydney's head, which is so very different from our beloved Rose. But that's not to say that I didn't enjoy reading from her POV, albeit in a different way.

Sydney is analytical and queen of studying the facts and logic, but I love how she is increasingly feeling more and more conflicted in her long-standing, Alchemist beliefs--especially by dear Adrian. Their relationship is just so much fun to follow and an absolute joy to witness develop. I just wish I could shake Sydney into seeing the truth behind Adrian's feelings, so that they could both just be happy--but I know better. I'm a long-time fan of Mead, so I know she has to drag both us readers and Adrian and Sydney through some more obstacles and heart-wrenching misunderstandings before we can all be happy. But I am oh-so-excited for the ride.

Overall, this novel was a blast (which is saying something coming from Sydney's POV). It was a tad slow in pieces, and I could've done without annoyingly smart Brayden but it still drew me in. As I said, I loved Adrian and Sydney's budding relationship (oh that ending!), and I cannot wait for more and to finally meet this mysterious Marcus, who will hopefully give Sydney a way out of the Alchemists. Definitely another must-read from Mead!
