A really lovely book about systematic oppression and otherness.
This was such a heartwarming story full of loveable characters. It deals with some dark themes but juggles these in a sensitive manner while also remaining a cosy read.
I didn't think Zoe and Helen's relationship was necessary - I think a female friendship across the species divide would have been really effective as the plot already centres on romantic and familial bonds .
In general, I really enjoyed this book - a perfect heartwarming read!
