It's been awhile since I stepped into sci-fi and this is a good one to step into. Planetary exploration groups must be approved by the "corporation" and must take security unit(s) on their missions. The security units are AI mixed with some biological parts. Not to be confused with humans mixed with artificial parts. This particular security unit hacked itself and refers to itself as murderbot. All it wants to do is watch the media it has downloaded from the satellite and be left alone. Yet it gets interrupted with its job and trying to keep it's humans alive. What a drag.
