Love and Other Foreign Words
by Erin McCahan
I'm marking this one as read, but leaving it unrated. I couldn't get past page 100 of this book. It was terrible. The main character, Josie, had a metal rod up her ass and was either an incredibly obnoxious, untreated Aspie, or just awful altogether.
At some point, she pushes her sister and her sister's husband on when they're going to have children because "they have no reason not to," and then in the same scene, gives her other sister's boyfriend/fiance shit just for existing. It just seems like her parents just let her treat other people like shit because she was "gifted" and lacked any social skills whatsoever.
This was honestly one of the worst written characters I've read. The comparison to John Green is definitely accurate, as they're all pretty unbearable altogether.
