What started as unflavoured popcorn, (bland but inoffensive, and easy to mindlessly shovel into one's mouth) turned out to have some flavour after all, (both sweet and salty) it was just buried halfway down. Good piece of historical fiction with a side of political intrigue.
Moderate: Body horror, Confinement, Infidelity, Sexual content, Slavery, Torture, Blood, Antisemitism, Islamophobia, Religious bigotry, Classism
Minor: Death, Infertility, Death of parent, Alcohol, Deportation
Relatively tame given the setting
