The Riddle by Alison Croggon

3.0

[6/10]

This book proved to be a very solid bridge into the rest of the story. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

This second installment definitely took some risks in the storytelling, but I enjoyed the unpredictability. There were some bits I didn't fully buy into here, but they don't turn out to be as important as I feared they would be, so I'm forgiving it.

This is petty, oh well -- my favorite character of the series is absent for the majority of this book and frankly, that's the half-star this one lost for me as compared to the first. I spent a lot of the book frustrated with the protagonist, but I think that makes sense considering where she is emotionally during this part of her journey.

My relief at the conclusion of this particular installment was by far the most profound of the series.
