Okay gotta start off by saying I felt like I needed to read this because it's so popular, but I'm not usually a romantacy girlie and I was resigned to give this a 4 or 4.5, but the ending was so good I bumped it to a 5.

This was everything Divergent wishes it was. 

I did find the love triangle to be a bit weak. I kind of wish it was beefed up a bit between Dane and Violet, only to see that crumble. And honestly, I wasn't that into Violet and Xanden until the end really when there was more conflict in their relationship -- their will they/won't they wasn't as alluring as I would have liked it to be.

But I found the story to be thrilling and fresh, while including some genre/scifi/dystopian nods. Truly the ending literally made me gasp -- something that I didn't see coming in the slightest.

Can't wait to move on in the series.
