Tiffany D. Jackson has yet to fail me. The Weight of Blood is a timely reimagining of Stephen King's Carrie that explores identity, racism, and bullying in a modern-day Southern town. Jackson masterfully blends horror (this may not be the right word) with social commentary, creating a thought-provoking narrative. The characters are complex and unfortunately, they feel familiar to me as someone who grew up and continues to live in the South. This book holds a mirror to real-world injustices. Read it.
