・❥・ ❝But even if she became a different person, somehow beautiful again, she still lived in a world that was so ugly.❞
I can’t tell you how surprised I am to have actually finished this book. Guys, I was bored.. 😩
Although this book handles some important topics — addiction, assault, sobriety, toxic social media culture and what being in the spotlight does to young people — the book itself had uneven pacing and I felt like we weren’t getting anywhere until at least the 53% mark. Some twists and turns happened, however I did guess pretty much most of them (this may be because I have read too many mystery/thrillers but they still felt predictable). 😬 There was some tension in the middle of the story, which made things move slightly faster. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for me to enjoy this book more.
Without spoiling anything and especially the ending, the conclusion of this story felt underwhelming. I reached the end and my first thought was: “this is it?”
I was really excited to read this and this is so disappointing 😭. I did check out some other reviews and a lot of them mention that this isn’t this author’s best work so I might check out another book in the future!
