To Kill a Mockingbird
by Harper Lee
inspiring
reflective
medium-paced
A good story with fascinating historical and cultural touches, as well as clever word choice and a writing style that was thoughtful and subtly humorous at times. There are characters many readers can relate to, no matter their generation. Some passages were a bit tedious, and it took a while for the plot to move along. The main message of the book is simple and enduring. Some other themes were not as deftly presented. I think it is best digested as an intimate family drama or coming of age story, as that is the lasting impression it will leave with me.
