The Girl in the Castle by James Patterson, Emily Raymond

4.0

Don’t let the title confuse you, The Girl in the Castle isn’t about a young woman who time travels from present day New York to the medieval times or 1347. It’s about a girl, with a traumatic past and her trying to cope with it.

I went into this book pretty much thinking this was a ya fantasy but quickly realized that wasn’t the case, however, it was so much more then what I thought it was going to be, I couldn’t put it down. I unfortunately didn’t have the time to read much but when I found it, I was reaching for The Girl in the Castle. It felt very much like a thrilling ya novel but like I’ve started, it’s much more.

If you’re into dual timelines, mystery and intrigue, mental health representation galore and a charming young man who’s just trying to help, The Girl in the Castle could be for you.

Note: this definitely has triggers for some, I would 100% research this book before starting it!
