Beneath the Surface: Killer Whales, SeaWorld, and the Truth Beyond Blackfish
by Howard Chua-Eoan, John Hargrove
Having been captivated by the Orcas at SeaWorld in the past I found the film Blackfish shocking and heartbreaking. It’s difficult to find that something you believed in was all an illusion.
John Hargrove’s book details how that happened to him too. It’s clear from the many stories in this book that SeaWorld doesn’t have the whales best interests at heart or the interests of those people who are dedicated to the care of the animals in captivity.
What’s also really sad is that almost a decade after Blackfish came out there are still so many whales in captivity and SeaWorld is still profiting from them.
