The Quarry Girls by Jess Lourey

4.0

I love books based on real events, this was no exception. I do wish the first half hadn't been so slow.Way too many flashbacks that I didn’t care about, especially during important scenes. It didn't really get interesting until about 60% into the book. I will say, it did have me constantly guessing, although all my guesses were somewhat correct(which is so sad) and while some of the outcome wasn't a surprise, it all wrapped up very nicely, though sadly. There were definitely things I was not expecting. This was a heartbreaking read but so good. I especially loved the parts with Beth. The story also made me very curious about Pantown and the tunnels. I could totally imagine myself as a kid growing up with the excitement and fun of having my neighborhood connected underground! Thanks to Amazon First Reads for the opportunity to read this book!
