One of the best of TP's stand alones. I started to say "unusual in its treatment of some of the secondary or tertiary characters," but in fact this is one of the things I like best about this author. He frequently does treat minor characters well, assumes they are real people, let's them have their say. I think he is unusually good with women--at least insofar as I am able to judge such things.
