Frostfire: A Novel of the Kyndred by Lynn Viehl

2.0

So I really like this series, which is why it pains me to say this. This one was disappointing. It was confusing as hell and I'm not sure it really made sense. At the very least, I didn't connect with it. Does that mean I'm going to stop reading this series? Hell no. Might I take a short break? Fuck yes. But you can rest assured I will continue reading Lynn Viehl's work and hope this doesn't happen again.

I would really like for there to be some kind of indication as to who is speaking in this book. It was really confusing to know whose point of view we were in - and sometimes when it even was. I get that she's trying to keep it mysterious - but there is a fine line between mysterious and just plain annoying. This one hit annoying for me.

The characters were good I suppose. Although, I didn't really believe this romance. Or what happened with the sheriff. Not that I believe in vampires or shape shifters! Just that, on an emotional level, I found the connections improbable.

I guess that's enough bitching. Here's hoping for improvement with the next book!
