Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson
2.0

A lot of the characters are 2D or just generally unlikeable. I found it hard to suspend my disbelief since this sci-fi is near earth and near future. The idea that we could go from first colonists to 1 million people in 25 years is absurd. The pace of construction was very unbelievable. It seemed like at parts the author just forgot to introduce things. Like at one point everyone just suddenly has Ai and wrist computers. Or there is suddenly a prison on mars and the characters are all familiar with it even tho it’s never been mentioned before. I really hate books that are just about interpersonal conflict. It was really odd that the first part of the book was out of order chronologically but no other parts were. I really can’t decide if I want to read the other two books now.
