I loved the story of this book - the way that magic intertwines into the world is a novel concept! And the plot was dripping with potential. However, the writing simply could not hold up the good ideas.

The pacing of the book felt rushed. The character development took a back seat to the plot being pushed forward, and because of that the characters remained flat throughout.

One is a dancer, one is a witch. I just summed up the entirety of both the main character's personalities.

For those of you drawn to the queer romance as I was, be prepared for nothing serious. Nothing in their relationship felt earned, and I honestly don't know why they would WANT to be together.

All that to say, I still enjoyed the book for what it was - fluff. It is a short book that has queer witches, it's going to be a good time. And there are gems of beautiful sentiments, and lovely nuggets about coming to terms with shifting sexualities. Just, temper your expectations.
