I want to start by saying that the author writes BEAUTIFULLY. She has such a talent for lyrical, whimsical writing. If this book gets adapted by Studio Ghibli, it would be an instant masterpiece.
I was truly invested in where the story was going especiallyonce the romance between the MCs began to blossom.
My issue with the book was the sharp turn in pacing especially in the last interlude. There was a rapid fire of characters from the different realms introduced and I could not keep up with who was who and what their purpose was. I’m still unsure who the true “villains” were.We were also in the middle of a battle (?) and it was slowed by adding some of the lore and poems in between.
Overall, beautiful writing and gorgeous premise. The ending was a whirlwind.
