Bad Behavior: Stories by Mary Gaitskill
3.0

This was a series of short stories that was a book that was recommended from another book I had read a year or so ago. I want to preface by stating that short stories can be very hit or miss for me and this was no exception.

Some short stories were enthralling; I couldn't get enough of them. Others were bothersome, particularly the men in the stories. The men in some were bonafide creeps, lechers, who were out to exploit or hurt the women in the stories. Some of the women were weak, with severe self esteem issues. I could not relate to these women for I have spent a lot of time working on my self esteem and self in general and these women have still a long ways to go. I am not stating I know all or am completely healed, but with age does come a bit of wisdom and insight into past mistakes or behaviors that some of these female characters in these stories have not achieved yet.

Overall, a mixed bag. Some stories were great, others made me a touch uncomfortable. I would only recommend it with caution.
