This was an interesting, although at times painful, read. I say painful not only because Tara and her family members go through some horrifying, traumatic incidents that shape their lives and beliefs, but also because, having not experienced anything close to Tara's upbringing, I found myself at some points yelling "no" in my head at decisions made. Tara is a fantastic writer and brought understanding to a lifestyle (Mormon beliefs with a radically anti-establishment father) that I've only heard scattered stories about. I'm in awe of her drive and accomplishments, and was also shocked by some of the stories she recounted.
In other words, I enjoyed this look into Tara's life and am amazed by her perserverance, drive, and ability to teach herself. This book sat on my shelves for yeara, and I am happy to have finally picked it up.
