Book 29: The Coldest Case by James Patterson

You guys all know my go to guilty pleasure for murder mysteries is James Patterson. I have read all of the Alex Cross series and the Women's Murder Club series. I saw this audio only book and had to try it. There may be a new detective added to my reading list.

Billy Harney is a detective in Chicago, investigating a drug ring. His partner, Kate is undercover in the ring trying to hook the guys in charge. People start getting killed, so Harney needs to get his partner out of there and safe. All does not go to plan, and Kate is a mess coming out of the undercover op. It is now up to Billy to unravel the truth.

Listening to this book sound like an episode of Blue Bloods. The way the characters were related, Billy's sister is also a detective, and his dad is the Chief of Detectives. Then the music from scene to scene sounded like a TV show also. It took me a bit to get into the book with all the extraneous sounds distracting from the story. All in all an enjoyable listen. Will be looking out for other Billy Harney stories. My rating 3.5 stars.
