Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan
4.0
Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan was such a great surprise.
Rae has cancer, and as she’s dying she’s offered the chance to enter her favourite book series — as the villain, destined to be executed.
At first, she has a wonderful time as Lady Rahela, the Beauty Dipped in Blood, but she starts to form friendships with her fellow villains, and begins to change the story…
I expected it to be a fun, fluffy read and it was definitely fun, but also a clever piece of metafiction.
Rae’s terminal illness lends depth and poignancy to the character and there are some deliciously dark scenes and twists and turns.
