Liberation Day: Stories by George Saunders
5.0

Loved this collection. Very reminiscent of CivilWarLand in Bad Decline (especially “Liberation Day” and “Ghoul”) the stand out story for me was “Elliott Spencer” I’m going to be thinking about that one for forever. His stories are always lessons in empathy, even the worst of his characters are complex and nuanced. My heart grew three sizes reading this.

George Saunders is my favorite living writer.
