Balzac has an amazing way of standing far from the narrative not imposing his judgement directly onto the reader while immersing the reader into the reality of parisian society. truly a must read book for anyone interested in the realism movement. I regret that i don’t know french well enough to read the original text and capture it in its full essence. Rastignac’s character has to be one of the most well written one with consistency with the plot i’ve come across recently.
