Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb

5.0

I'm writing this review after my third re-read of this book. This time I listened to the audiobook version, mostly just as a comfort read. I needed sometime to listen to while I knitted and did other lame things like that, and ended up picking this.

Obviously if I've read it three times, you know I love it pretty hard core. Like seriously. Love it. For that matter, I love the series as a whole; it's probably my favorite trilogy by Hobb. This is the first book in the trilogy, and it does start sort of slow, but it doesn't really bother me. It did the first time I read it, but now I don't even notice that it's slow, I'm too busy loving the old, familiar, cuddly feel of the story. And the second and third book more than make up for the slow start.. Seriously. Love love lovelovelovelovelove.

Highly recommended... But for the most impact, it has to be read in between Hobb's Farseer and Tawny Man trilogies. This trilogy can/does stand alone.. But it adds so much to Farseer/Tawny Man, and Farseer/Tawny Man add so much to it.. It's best read as part of the whole.

Five kagillion sparkly golden stars. I love me some Hobb!
