Madwoman by Chelsea Bieker
slow-paced
2.5
i don’t even know where to start. i had different expectations going in.
the pacing was off and i felt like it kept dragging on in terms of giving you any resolution until it was basically the end. at times the writing felt over done and heavy handed and at others it felt interesting and you wanted to learn more.
i wanted more with the butcher tbh lol but do like how she broke the cycle in a lot of ways even if she felt like she was struggling.
i appreciate what the author is trying to say about motherhood and trauma and escaping your past and how to move forward. the depiction of domestic violence was heartbreaking and real.
it all felt a little predictable and cliche. jenny was another one where i was like jfc and then its like duh.
but overall it was fine
