Papillon by Henri Charrière

5.0

I’ve been meaning to read this for years, as it’s been in my parents’ library since forever and my dad has always tried to convince me that I will love it. And I did!
Adventure books is what got me into reading in the first place and this is full of adventures that keep you hooked all the way through the book. I don’t really care if the story is 100% true or not, the writer is an amazing storyteller.
I especially admired Papillon’s dream to become free and his constant efforts to achieve freedom. Also, I have to agree that he’s a manipulation mastermind.
I didn’t know much details about the French prisons they had overseas such a short while ago and this book gives you lots of info on how people were being treated over there.
Looking forward to reading the sequel!
