cashton 's review for:
Queen Sugar
by Natalie Baszile
Baszile's novel is a great read! I love that she provides a complete story, with fully developed characters and hero to root for. The widowed single mother Charley, has taken a leap of faith and moved down south to start a new life as a sugar farmer. Moving to the south includes living with her stubborn grandmother and her estranged older brother, who is consumed with jealousy and desperation. But in Louisiana she meet a host of new people that become her support system, comedic relief and even love interest. I am a firm believer in reading the book before watching the movie, or in this case television show. However this was such a good story, I'm afraid the television show will disrupt my satisfaction with the book.
