The Dinner by Herman Koch
3.0
It was an interesting concept for a book. The entire thing takes place over the course of one dinner with flashbacks to fill in the story line. And the flow of the story worked really well.
The story itself was what I had a problem with. Or, to be more specific, the main character and narrator. He wasn't likable. He was a mean jerk that couldn't keep control of himself, something he passed on to his son, and who tried justified his unjust actions. He annoyed me for pretty much the entire book.
It only got three stars from me for concept. I haven't read many books in which the story only spans over a few hours.

And the worst part was that it ended in his and his son's favor. Considering that they weren't good people or characters, I don't find that to be a good thing. It only got three stars from me for concept. I haven't read many books in which the story only spans over a few hours.
