The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
4.0
adventurous dark funny slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

The story is great and thrilling, though i think the set up is extremely long and took a while for me to get into. Which does make sense, since it makes the impact of the actual conflict and the deaths hit harder. Normally I like non-linear storytelling but for some reason the interludes kept pulling me out of the narrative, but this is really only a problem for the first half of the book.

They also keep mentioning this Sabitha character who i was very curious about but who never shows up. But I’m sure some of my problems will be resolved in the future books if I get that far.

The thing that I love about this book is that it is not afraid of making the characters struggle and fail and end up at rock bottom. It really makes their victories so much more satisfying when they fuck up and have to learn from their mistakes.
