Pack of Lies by Annie Bellet

REREAD 2019

I'm reading the whole series in preparation for my first read of [b:Magic to the Bone|29558243|Magic to the Bone (The Twenty-Sided Sorceress, #7)|Annie Bellet|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1458469174l/29558243._SY75_.jpg|49434964]

I am honestly not sure if I should change the rating for this book or not.
I found it was a little slower than I remembered, and clearly slower than the two first books in the series, which is why I couldn't bring myself to listen to it in one sitting like with the others.

The story, while slow, is interesting. It's clear that Jade has grown after what happened in [b:Murder of Crows|23012190|Murder of Crows (The Twenty-Sided Sorceress, #2)|Annie Bellet|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1409088811l/23012190._SY75_.jpg|42500945], which was nice to see, and the relationship between her and Alec wasn't as rough and tiresome as I remembered it.

All in all, there's a lot of good things about this book, but something about the whole thing felt king of off for me. It may just have been my all-over-the-place-health as I listened to it, but I honestly don't know.

New rating: 3/5 stars.

Listened to this as an audiobook

So this is the last in the series I'll be hearing for a while.
Not because I didn't like it, but because it was the last in the ''set'' I bought a while back, and while the next book is out as an audiobook, the next ones after that is not, and I don't know when they'll be out.

That said, this is still a fun series to listen to.
Each book is rather short - just around 5 hours long, this last one - and the story moves steadelly forward.
By now we also have a good feel of the world and the characters, and the plot is starting to thicken.
I like the fact that the author just hinted at it until the end of this book. It gave us time to get invested in the characters.

A fun read
