Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

Did not finish book.

1.0

DNF- I can’t truly review this since I made it to 55% before I jumped to the end and called it a day but I can leave you with my reasons as to why I didn’t finish it.
I think Lucy Score is a Colleen Hoover Wannabe because this book reminded me so very much of the three CoHo books I read, before I realized she is not the author for me. I found the characters to be obnoxious, toxic, and crass- except for the 11 year old. She was the most mature character of them all, although her name was by far the worst name I’ve seen a character saddled with (and remember I read three of Colleen Hoover’s books!).
If I had to read another word about how Naomi needed coffee and more coffee and even more coffee STAT or how everyone in town kept thinking she was her evil twin, I was going to lose my mind. I seriously wanted to shout at her, “Why are you so surprised?! Just show them your doggone license!!”
The part that really did me in was the part that mentioned 9 different terms for a woman’s menstrual cycle (7 of them happening back to back). Was Ms. Score trying to show us all the different terms there are for “period”? Did she think it was funny? I found it obscene and ridiculous, which seemed to be the theme of the book up until that point.
It was shortly after that scene that I decided enough was enough and to move on. I’m really not sure how this book has a rating of over 4 stars, but to each their own.
