There is something especially rewarding about finishing a 650 page tome of a book. When first I began Udolpho, I was worried how a 1794 gothic novel that took place two hundred years before that would hold up. But honestly? It was beautifully written, characters were distinct and loveable, and it was a romp of a read. At times it was insightful and heartfelt, and other times even humorous.
I am a major Ludovico fan, Annette is a lucky woman.
Fuck, I don’t even know what else to say, but hell yeah. Good book.
