Krik? Krak! by Edwidge Danticat
5.0

Really loved this book. I want to reread with a highlighter, because there were so many lines that stood out to me. I recently read "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" which is a novel about a Dominican family, starting in the DR during Trujillo’s dictatorship, and ending in New York in the 90’s. That book is written in a similar style with "Krik? Krak", spanning generations and using a sort of short-story format to tie in different perspectives of the Dominican experience. So anyway, it was really interesting to read a novel about the other side of the island during the same period in history, and to see how Trujillo's atrocities affected Haitians as well.
