Fast-paced, yes—but the story didn’t click for me. I kept hoping for that “now I’m hooked” moment, but it never came. When the author hinted that Philip might have been behind it, I was curious about the motive… but when a random sister appeared who survived at 5 months age when their mother commits suicide, my interest just fizzled.
This is one of my least favourite Freida McFadden books—mediocre compared to her others. The storyline felt clumsy, almost as if the author wanted to publish something without really refining it.
The FMC was twisted, which I actually liked, but the overall story was forgettable. My favourite moment ? When the cat attacked Harper —that was the only bit that made me grin.
I binged it in a day, but in the end, I was not satisfied.
