This book was written from a screenplay and not the other way around, which is intriguing. It was a very quick read and did read like a screenplay, but a good screenplay. It felt like the author who wrote the book had no interest, passion, or inspiration for the actual story, so the characters were surface level, but the person who wrote the screenplay obviously understood story beats and really cared, so it came through the pages. I would bet that the movie is better than this book but if there was only a book, it would be 3.5 stars, so I'll give it that rating.
UPDATE: The movie is so much better, and the author had access to THIS screenplay and wrote this book? I'm reducing half a star. Love the awareness for book lovers but dang. Feels manipulative.
