A History of Britain in 21 Women: A Personal Selection by Jenni Murray

3.0

I feel like a bad feminist for marking only 3/5, so I’ll start off by saying I really enjoyed learning about many women I had unfortunately never heard of and appreciating more of the obstacles that women have had to overcome in order to succeed. But by the 10th woman the chapter structure and writing style became formulaic and quite dull. The only reason I finished the book was because it was easy to put down and come to after a break.

I also got the distinct impression that the book was aimed at women, which seems to be at odds with the overall theme.
