re-read in 2020 :
i don't think twilight is the worst book i've read. it's bad, yes. but definitely not irredeemable. in fact, a huge chunk of the last 100 pages is actually quite action packed and would have made this story way more fun and engaging if the author had focused on that and had kept the romance as a sub-plot. also, when I used to watch video essays on twilight, i used to agree that bella was a dumb character and it was irritating to watch her make stupid decisions. but on the re-read i have realised, you do gotta be dumb AF to fall in love with a predator that sees you as the best snack he's ever laid eyes on - literally, not sexually. and that's horrifying. i don't think you can justify this "romance" without making bella a dumb character lol.
so yeah. done. never picking it up again!
