As soon as I started reading this, I knew it wasn't anything spectacular, yet I couldn't put it down. Every chance I had I was desperate to read a little more.
The writing is a bit simple and hand-holding. Nothing is really particularly complicated, you're not left to read between the lines or fill in the blanks yourself, it's an easy read. I'd have loved more nuance and layers to the plot, something unexpected. That being said, it was still a good read and had me well drawn in.
The ending was absolutely disappointing. It leaned far too into this "avengers assemble" style sisterhood and ended in this weird disney-esque "happily ever after". I wish the main cast had more depth and nuance (Fleance came closest, then it was as if the little complexity he had was ret-conned) , and especially wish the main character had leaned into her complicated backstory and been a little less likeable, or a little more driven and desperate.
Overall I don't regret spending my time reading this, but I wouldn't rave about it to my friends either. It's a great concept but somewhat disappointing execution.
