I had the hardest time reading this at first. The I just couldn’t get myself to read with the apparent theme of mother v daughter it had. I just wasn’t in the requisite headspace I thought I’d need. Then, I happened to read the Author’s Note at the end and, I don’t know why, but it gave me the space I needed to not have to identify myself as either Essen or Nassun, but a little as each of them. And then I could see each of their points of view so much clearer. The book past page 100 or so was then read within a week.

The story itself was magnificent—a fitting conclusion to the series.
