Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

3.5

Okay, so I fell into the hype machine it's true. I had been seeing Assistant to the Villain all over the place. With the reveal for the sequel cover, I thought let me give this a try. I listened to the audiobook which made it a hilarious experience. Em Eldridge does a phenomenal job at infusing Evie and the Villain's POVs with the butterflies and the romantic angst. If I didn't listen to this in audio, I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much. I actually do know this. Because I tried to read this, not listen to it, and I put it down.

Having finished it, did I think Assistant to the Villain was a fun entertaining ride? Yes. Were there some scenes that made me roll my eyes? Also yes. Being dual POV helps a lot, otherwise you're like, "are you delusional Evie?" To be fair, I still don't necessarily see their initial spark of like why you'd want to date your boss especially if he's a torturing 'villain'. So that was sort of a hard sell for me at the beginning.
