Okay, so the fact that a private investigation type agency is named “Sunshine Discovery Agency” like isn’t that a tad cheesy?
Audrey is a fine character point of view but I would have liked more depth. She had backstory but mostly surface feeling and too one note. So definitely read more for plot than character. From the main point of view to the rest, they are unreliable and all have some shadiness. And I liked that. Although the obsession with putting down Coors Light was too stretched. Coors Light was its own character and I hoped they paid for that product placement.
Story was steady but a little too slow. I loved the detail and imagery that came when they were diving; diving scenes give such great tension of claustrophobia and a mix of deep sea beauty. I did need the main character Audrey to commit to being something. She had an opportunity to be an unreliable narrator but didn’t fully get there and she took way too long to figure things out to be a discovery agent. As a reader, I wish I hadn’t gotten there so far in advanced or I would have enjoyed it more.
