A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult
2.0

This book lost me a couple of times throughout the read. Small Great Things was an amazing book. It opened me to an entire world of opinions and happenings that I knew nothing about.

While Spark of Light was quite the opposite. As someone who has worked in the pro-life world and takes a hard stance on pro-life, this was a major disappointment. The way she protrayed any pro-life characters, thoughts or events was extremely disappointing. The propoganda in this book was what made me have a hard time finishing it. It wasn’t because I didn’t agree with it, because I often read books I may not agree with. It was because it painted the pro-life side in such bland (and ignorant) contrast to the pro-choice aspects.

If you are someone who is pro-life and wonder if this book might be a good way to understand more points from each side, just go read some wikipedia articles.

I still love Picoult’s writing style, it is extremely well written. I just can’t get behind her main pushes in this book.
