Such a Good Family by Caitlin Weaver
4.0
This was a beautifully written debut book that touched on some heavy topics but was an unputdownable and gripping read.
Lorrie and Eden are best friends plus neighbours and their kids basically grew up together. Lorrie is excited to find out that her son, Knox, is dating her best friend’s daughter, Summer.
That is until Summer ends up in the hospital after a sexual assault and names Knox as the assailant. This changes everything as both mothers try to protect their own kid.
The story is told from multiple POVs and is a thought-provoking book. Caitlin did a great job of exploring such a difficult subject of sexual assault and its impact on the victim, assailant, and their families as well as how the society responds to such a situation.
It was a great page-turner and made me question how far people can go to protect those they love. I would recommend this book if you are a fan of Liane Moriarty, Jodi Picoult and Celeste Ng.
