i just don't think anyone uses words the way ocean vuong does. he paints the world in the abstract— blood as pools of coca cola, war as a staged still frame to walk through.
it's effective, inspiring, and beautiful in the way sometimes a painting in a museum is to me, where i don't know anything about what i'm looking at, the artist, or the subject matter, but my eyes love what they see.
