Though it started slow for me, Kings of the Wyld very quickly became that book I could never put down. Sure, the world is familiar, especially for those familiar with Dungeons and Dragons and the Forgotten Realms, and all of those classic fantasy romps, but here it is precisely because of the world being so familiar that you - and the author - end up focusing a lot more of your energy on the character instead. What is great is that you start off meeting people who have ventured out of their prime - and beyond just "hey look these are older folk who are doing things again", you also have people who are already kind of certain about themselves and their stations in their now-lives, so to witness character movement in such characters was a delight.

AN AUTOMATIC 5 STAR FROM ME.

And the ROCK REFERENCES. So, so, many.

And of course, for anyone who is a rock fan and a fantasy fan like me, this is must-read. I cannot wait to see how the sequel plays out.
