Revival
by Stephen King
This book reminds me of that episode where Rick Sanchez takes Morty Smith to this intergalactic arcade and he plays this game called "Roy" where he basically lives an entire lifetime before dying. That's what this book is you don't just read it you experience it. This story feels like an all encompassing memoir by someone who doesn't exist. Melding the sinister with the super natural and an adroit eye for detail that breathes to life an awful loss of religion and aging. What makes this book phenomenal is how it revels in the mundane the same way we all do,you don't notice what's going on until it's passed and it's too late to change. An anchoring motif is how we're a victim to ourselves, how well we can self inflict it. This is genuinely something important that everyone should experience at least once irrespective of their taste in genre or Stephen kings work.
